QR Login

QR login lets a member sign in at any client PC by scanning a code with the HandyCafe app. The member never types a password on a shared PC. Their phone confirms the login and the session starts.

Where It Appears

QR login is always available on the client login screen. When a customer opens the login window from the idle screen, they see two options side by side:

  • Username and password. The member types their credentials directly on the client.
  • QR code. A code the member scans with the HandyCafe app.

The QR option needs no button and no toggle. It is always on whenever the client can reach the server.

How It Works

  1. The login screen shows a QR code. The code carries a one-time link.
  2. The member opens the HandyCafe app on their phone and scans the code with the app or the phone camera. If the app is not installed, the link opens the install page.
  3. The app confirms the login for the member account.
  4. The client polls the server and, on approval, logs the member in. Their session begins.

The code has a short lifetime. If it expires before the member scans it, the screen offers a refresh to show a new code.

Benefits

  • No shared-PC passwords. Credentials stay on the member phone. Nothing sensitive is typed on the client PC.
  • Fast repeat visits. A regular member signs in with a single scan.
  • Tied to the member account. The session links to the member wallet, tier, discount, and history, the same as any member session. See Members.

Requirements

  • The member has a HandyCafe account and the HandyCafe Gamer app installed on their phone.
  • The client PC is connected to the server. The QR option hides when the server is unreachable. The username and password form stays available.

Related Login Methods

  • Guest login requests. A walk-in guest with no account can ask the operator to open a PC for a postpaid session. See Login Requests.
  • Cashier-started sessions. A cashier can start any session by hand from the Admin Panel. See Session Management.
